The National Football League is the most popular sports league in North America. In order to be a franchise, one must have an NFL team. However, some states are still without their own football team despite being home to many die-hard fans of the sport.

The “what states do not have an nfl team” is a question that many people ask. The answer to the question is “42.”

The National Football League (NFL) is by far the most popular sport in the United States. It has more TV viewers than any other sport, and it receives more media coverage than any other professional sports league in the nation. An NFL franchise is a powerful economic engine for any city that has one, bringing in a huge number of visitors over the autumn season, resulting in considerable income for the local government.

There are 32 NFL clubs, with some of them sharing a state or even a city. As a result, there are some states in the United States that do not have an NFL club. The list of states without a team in the league is unsurprising, given that they are mostly less populated and smaller states with fewer major sports franchises overall.

We acquire certain facts regarding states having NFL franchises from 1KeyData, such as the fact that California and Florida are tied for the most teams in a state, with three each. You would believe that New York has three NFL teams, but the Buffalo Bills are the only ones that play their home games in the Empire State; the Giants and Jets both play in MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Seven states have more than one team, including Maryland, courtesy to the Washington Commanders’ home games in Landover. Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas are also on the list.

With the Raiders’ recent relocation from Oakland to Las Vegas, Nevada is the newest state to have a club, while Louisiana is the lowest state by population to have an NFL team. Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, and Wisconsin are the remaining 23 states having a franchise.

If 23 states have at least one team, that leaves 27 states without a team, and Bleacher Report assists citizens of those states in determining which teams they should support. Virginia is the most populous state without a team, and its neighbor West Virginia is the same way. Geographically, states like Alaska and Hawaii do not have teams since it would be a logistical burden. Furthermore, numerous states in the Intermountain West area, including as Utah, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, and Wyoming, are thinly populated and would certainly be unable to sustain an NFL club. Utah, on the other hand, is an exception in that it is home to an NBA club, unlike its neighbors.

Alabama, Iowa, and Oklahoma, who do not have NFL clubs, have great college football programs that may eclipse any NFL teams that move there. Arkansas, Delaware, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, and South Dakota are the other states without NFL clubs.

There are five non-NFL states that aren’t included in the above list since they are a bit of an outlier compared to the rest of the non-NFL states. Although Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont do not have their own NFL teams, they are represented by one. Five of the six states that make up New England are included in this list.

New England has a football team, the Patriots, as football enthusiasts are aware. The Patriots are based in Foxboro, Massachusetts, but their moniker encompasses the whole New England area. These five states are part of the Patriots’ home area, despite the fact that they do not have any NFL clubs. Furthermore, Connecticut hasn’t always been bereft of NFL games; in the 1970s, the Giants called Yale Bowl in New Haven, Connecticut, home for a handful of seasons. In the 1990s, the state attempted to recruit the Patriots.
