The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the worst teams in the NBA since they traded away Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, but they still managed to acquire Ben Simmons. However, their attempts at landing Russell Westbrook backfired with the Thunder star turning down a deal that would send him to L.A., proving that he is fed up with James Harden’s ball-dominant tendencies on offense.

The “ben simmons russell westbrook trade” is a topic that many people have been talking about. The Lakers’ failed attempt at acquiring Ben Simmons has proven that they’re fed up with Russell Westbrook.

The Lakers' Failed Attempt at Acquiring Ben Simmons Proves They're Fed Up With Russell Westbrook

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a rough start to the 2021-22 season, with their performance falling well short of expectations. As a consequence, the Thunder’s star point guard, Russell Westbrook, has been singled out for criticism. The Lakers wanted to trade him for Ben Simmons as a result of all of this, but the Philadelphia 76ers promptly rejected.

Russell Westbrook’s debut with the Lakers has been rocky.

The addition of the nine-time All-Star to complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis kicked off the Lakers’ frantic summer.

Despite the fact that the team has been limited by injuries and worries about COVID-19, Westbrook’s performance hasn’t helped Los Angeles progress. The Lakers are in seventh place overall with a 17-19 record, having lost six of their last seven games.

Westbrook’s numbers have consistently risen throughout the season, averaging 19.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 8.1 rebounds per game. He has eight triple-doubles this season, including one in each of the last three games. His long-term status in Los Angeles, though, is uncertain, though he seems to be eligible to play this season.

The Lakers’ failed attempt to recruit Ben Simmons reflects their discontent with Russell Westbrook.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding Simmons being dealt in recent weeks.

Despite acquiring Westbrook this summer, several teams, including the Lakers, are still interested in the three-time All-Star. Simmons is linked to the Los Angeles Lakers via LeBron James, who is represented by Klutch Sports agent Rich Paul.

During a recent interview on The Anthony Irwin Show, Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report reported that the 76ers turned down an offer topped by Westbrook.

Fischer told Lakers Daily, “From what I’ve heard, the Lakers called Philly and said, ‘We’re interested in Ben.’” “It was a fast chat since the only salary figures that might match Ben Simmons’ own pricy deal are AD. (Anthony Davis), LeBron [James], or Russ’. THT (Talen Horton-Tucker) and Kendrick Nunn, as well as a lot of minimums, aren’t getting you there.” He isn’t a team player, either (the Sixers want).

“There’s a physical presence about the Sixers” (list). I’m not sure how long it’s been, but in exchange for Ben Simmons, they’ve returned between 20 and 30 players. They do, in fact. Damian Lillard, James Harden, Bradley Beal, Jayson Brown, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and a bevy of other players are among those who have signed up… They probably have a wish list of All-Stars, but Russell Westbrook isn’t on it.”

The team’s only contracts above the veteran’s minimum are those of Talen Horton-Tucker ($9 million) and Kendrick Nunn ($5 million). Simmons’ $33 million deal for the 2021-22 season is a long cry. Meanwhile, Westbrook makes $44.2 million each year, yet his market worth has plunged in the NBA.

Teams are avoiding the former league MVP because they believe his playing style will not help them win a title. Furthermore, the Lakers are effectively out of the competition to sign Simmons as a result of this current speculation.

The Lakers will be headed by LeBron James until Anthony Davis returns.

The Lakers have other trade alternatives, but Westbrook is unlikely to garner any attention.

Several teams expressed interest in Horton-Tucker before Los Angeles decided to keep him, so he might become a valuable trade commodity. Aside from that, due to the team’s current financial situation, the Lakers don’t have much wiggle room.

James will continue to lead the team, scoring 27.6 points per game, the most of any player in their 19th season. Los Angeles has gone 1-5 during that span despite the 37-year-old scoring at least 30 points in each of the previous six games.

The Lakers will depend on Westbrook and the rest of the roster to right the ship until Davis returns.
