Aaron Rodgers wanted a lot more money from the Green Bay Packers than they were willing to give him. When he didn’t get it, he held out. It turns out he’s not the first star player to do so.
The NFL is notorious for its non-disclosure agreements , and the draft is no exception. The amount of money a team will pay a player in signing bonus is determined during the pre-draft negotiation process.
Aaron Rodgers is a really good football player. But, as the Green Bay Packers quarterback is currently locked out of the team’s facilities, the franchise is being forced to pay him $20 million in salary while they negotiate a new contract. As you all know, there’s a lot of money at stake here.. Read more about what does aaron rodgers do now and let us know what you think.
Consider Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to be Rod Tidwell and general manager Brian Gutekunst to be Jerry Maguire. To put it another way, “Show me the money!”
Rodgers has a lot more star power than Tidwell had in Jerry Maguire, but he’s just as focused on achieving financial and professional stability. He may be prepared to go to considerable measures to do this, given that he has already skipped obligatory minicamp and has given no indication that he would be there for the start of training camp.
The organization’s future seems to be at a fork in the road, especially now that star Packers receiver Davante Adams has effectively ended his contract negotiations with the club. If Gutekunst and club president Mark Murphy want to maintain any sort of consistency, they’ll have to open the wallet and spend aggressively.
This is particularly true with Rodgers, whose wage demands may be linked to his desire for the club to make a more genuine commitment to him. In reality, he mostly wants to become untradable.
Aaron Rodgers has referred to Green Bay’s structural problems.
Throughout the offseason, Rodgers has said that his complaints are not due to a lack of money.
During an interview with former ESPN anchor Kenny Mayne in May, the veteran Packers quarterback provided some insight on his holdout. He alluded to organizational and, in particular, front-office culture problems. Rodgers held a grudge against Gutekunst and Murphy, which was the catalyst for his decision not to return to the Packers.
Indeed, Rodgers’ actions this summer have mirrored that attitude. He has turned down contract offers that would have made him the NFL’s highest-paid player, including a recent two-year deal that would have kept him in Green Bay for another five seasons.
If Rodgers is turning down huge money, then his reasons for wanting to leave the Packers must be legitimate, right? Rodgers, on the other hand, seems to have a problem with the front office. The money, on the other hand, are an unavoidable element of the circumstance.
Rodgers is allegedly seeking $90 million in guaranteed compensation.
The three-time NFL MVP is seeking an assurance from the Packers that they would remain committed to him until he decides he no longer wants to play football.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, a club interested in signing Rodgers wants $90 million guaranteed over two years. As Florio pointed out, a seismic extension of this magnitude would “tie Green Bay’s hands” in the following seasons.
Are the Packers willing to make such a deal for Rodgers? During the buildup to the 2021 NFL Draft, Gutekunst said many times that Green Bay would not deal Rodgers. However, as Florio points out, Gutekunst’s failure to make the star quarterback an offer under this framework may indicate that he has no intention of doing so.
Rodgers’ words only have so much power at this time. Gutekunst and Murphy may continue to voice their desire for A-Rod to play in the starting lineup in the future. However, as the saying goes, money speaks.

There had been some talk that if the situation in Green Bay worsened, Rodgers could consider retirement. That seems not to be the case.
Rodgers has completed his offseason training program and is ready to play football in 2021, according to a spokesperson from Proactive Sports Performance. It remains to be seen if he will play for the Packers.
It’s quite conceivable that the Packers’ front management buckles down and gives Rodgers a huge guaranteed amount of money. However, doing so would go against the team’s aim to save money this summer. Furthermore, extending such a costly contract to Rodgers would restrict Green Bay’s ability to re-sign Adams or surround him with impact players.
Still, Rodgers (like Tidwell) is pleading with the Packers to demonstrate their commitment to him by investing in him.
If Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams think they’re Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, they’re wrong.
It’s hard to say exactly what is going on with Aaron Rodgers and his contract. Aaron Rodgers’ agent Tom Condon is holding out for a new deal (which may or may not be about money) and he hasn’t been shy about his reasoning. He has told the media that Rodgers is worth $25 million a year. Condon has been quoted in numerous news stories saying that the exact number is $30 million a year. But what number is he using to get that number?. Read more about aaron rodgers contract end and let us know what you think.
