Through the first 21 days of the season, Golden State is 9-1. They are two games ahead of the Utah Jazz, who had the best record in the West previous season.
The Warriors are the top team in the league in terms of record. The numbers support it up, as Golden State has been strong on both ends of the court even without Klay Thompson and James Wiseman.
Curry is expected to lead an offensive juggernaut at this stage in his career. He is, in fact. The Warriors lead the league in scoring (115.2 points per game) and assists (30.3 per game), are third in field goal percentage (47.2), and second in 3-point shooting (38.2%). (38.6).
Golden State’s domination on defense, though, has been the team’s greatest surprise thus far in 2021-22.
Steph and his teammates have the best defensive rating in the NBA. The Warriors have the second-most defensive rebounds per game, fourth-most thefts, and don’t give opponents easy scores — they’re third in the NBA in second-chance points allowed and fourth in opponent points in the paint.
Simply said, Golden State is the best team in the NBA, with Curry at the helm.
The Baby-Faced Assassin now has a new feather in his hat.
In the Warriors’ victory against Atlanta, Curry scored 50 points and added 10 assists.
Steph Curry has been restricted to 20 points or fewer in four consecutive games before Golden State’s contest against the Hawks. According to CBS Sports, this is the first time this has occurred since 2014.
Obviously, the former Davidson star would emerge from his funk, and he did so in spectacular manner.
Curry’s 50-point, 10-assist performance not only led the Warriors to their ninth victory of the season, but it also placed him in the company of Wilt Chamberlain and Rick Barry in team history, as well as Wilt the Stilt in league history.
Steph’s performance propelled him past Chamberlain to become the league’s oldest player to complete a game with 50 points and 10 assists.
In the triumph, the 33-year-old guard shot 9-of-19 from three and 14-of-28 overall. He also had seven rebounds and three steals and a block, fitting in well with the Warriors’ defensive grip on the NBA this season.
Oh, and Atlanta lead by 15 in the first half’s closing minutes. Curry and the Warriors had a 17-point lead at the conclusion of the third quarter.
As the Warriors go back in time, Steph is creating NBA history.
When this franchise incarnation won its first NBA title in 2015, the Human Torch led Golden State in scoring.
When the Warriors beat Michael Jordan and the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls for the greatest regular-season record in NBA history the next year, he scored more than 30 points per game.
Despite having Kevin Durant on the club in 2016-17, Steph led the Warriors in scoring and to another title, cruising over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the finals.
He shared for the team lead in scoring with Durant as Golden State won their third NBA championship in four seasons in 2018.
Curry has now amassed another another piece of NBA history. And with the way he’s lighting up the league right now, there’s a good possibility the future Hall of Famer will add another title to his collection.
