Stephen A. Smith has been a sports analyst for ESPN since 1997 and is an undisputed expert on the gridiron, specifically football. His career took off in 2001 when he became known as “The Professor” after calling his first NFL playoff game. He went to work for ESPN that year and still serves as one of their lead analysts today.,

That is not the case, to be sure. Brady just secured a multi-year contract with Fox, whilst Smith works for ESPN. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback is unlikely to come up with outrageous plays simply for the sake of it. But TB12 is breaking records in the sports broadcasting industry, which Smith has been a part of for years.
Brady is allegedly set to earn $375 million over ten years as Fox’s top NFL pundit (though the contents of the agreement have been contested), and the deal will begin when he retires. If those figures hold true, they would easily beat Tony Romo’s previous annual salary record of almost $18 million (which Troy Aikman has since reportedly matched at ESPN). The deal would be the biggest ever in sports broadcasting.
Smith, on the other hand, seems unconcerned with Brady’s new position. On his program, First Take, he responded to the news, and it was surprisingly lackluster.

Stephen A. Smith is a successful businessman. According to the New York Post, he earns about $12 million every year. Brady’s annual salary is said to be $37.5 million, according to the New York Post, yet he’s still wealthy.
On the May 10 broadcast of First Take, the affluent ESPN pundit responded to Brady’s new TV employment (they didn’t reveal the hefty figures, only that he was joining Fox). Smith, on the other hand, was silent.
“I’m thrilled for him; he deserves it,” Smith added, “but pardon me if I don’t care.” “I’d want to watch him play this year as he tries to win another Super Bowl, and I’d like him to call me while he’s in the booth.” He’s going to be fantastic, in my opinion. He has earned it. I’m delighted for him. But I’m curious to watch him perform. Right now, I couldn’t care less about guy in the booth.”
So, Smith is just worried about Brady’s upcoming season with the Buccaneers. And as the QB said on Twitter, he has some unfinished business.

Tom Brady retired for two seconds this summer before returning to the Buccaneers to play quarterback.
It’s simple to see why he continues to play. In 2021, Brady topped the NFL in passing yards (5,316) and touchdowns (43) but the Buccaneers were narrowly defeated in the NFC Divisional Round by the eventual Super Bowl winners, the Los Angeles Rams.
In the summer, the Buccaneers lost guard Alex Cappa, tight end O.J. Howard, and running back Ronald Jones. However, they have recruited former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Russell Gage and guard Shaq Mason. Those significant offensive acquisitions, together with the Buccaneers’ core of Brady, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Leonard Fournette (and maybe Rob Gronkowski? ), should make them Super Bowl contenders once again.
Brady will have a fantastic broadcasting career if he can emulate Tony Romo’s success behind the microphone. He does, however, have a chance to win his ninth Super Bowl. The real issue is whether or not he’ll put those rings on in the booth.
