The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a rough season, recently losing to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. With just one win in their last seven games and Ben Roethlisberger not playing well this year, the team may be interested in taking Carson Wentz from the Indianapolis Colts.
The “pittsburgh steelers roster” is a team that has been in the NFL since 1933. They have won 4 Super Bowls and have had many great players, including Terry Bradshaw and Franco Harris. The Steelers are currently without a quarterback after Ben Roethlisberger retired at the end of last season.
For a long time, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been anticipating this moment. The front staff now has to find a replacement for Ben Roethlisberger, who spent his entire 18-year NFL career with the team. Many people are guessing about who Mike Tomlin and his team will choose in 2022. Carson Wentz is a rising star on the football field.
Wentz seemed to be having a rebound season with the Indianapolis Colts until everything fell apart at the conclusion of the season. The North Dakota State product looks to be on his way out of Indianapolis, paving the path for a possible union with the Steelers.
The Steelers are getting ready for life beyond quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Throughout his career, Ben Roethlisberger was the heart and soul of the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise. He was named to six Pro Bowls, twice led the league in passing, and twice helped the team win Super Bowls. It will be tough to succeed him since he left large shoes to fill.
The Steelers’ front office is a year late in finding a quarterback. Big Ben’s deterioration was evident throughout his final two seasons. On top of Roethlisberger’s problems, Pittsburgh failed to account for the offensive line’s inconsistency.
The most pressing concern confronting the front office going into the 2022 offseason is who will be the starting quarterback.
Since Roethlisberger announced his retirement, rumors have been circulating. Some speculate that Pittsburgh might be a target for a big-name transaction including Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers. Others believe the Steelers might go ahead with either Mason Rudolph or Dwayne Haskins Jr. as their starting quarterback.
Carson Wentz of the Indianapolis Colts has emerged as a likely contender to succeed him in 2022.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ approach to their quarterback hunt in the summer will be fascinating to watch. According to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor, head coach Mike Tomlin said that “all alternatives” are on the table. The group might go in a variety of ways.
According to CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin, the Steelers are among the favorites to acquire Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz.
“Wentz has certain characteristics of a younger Ben,” Benjamin added. “And his presence wouldn’t prevent them from picking a quarterback.” They’re also prepared to play in the same way as Wentz’s Colts did in 2021, with a focus on the run and defense.”
Benjamin is absolutely correct. The current Steelers roster is conducive to Wentz’s success. Throughout his career, the 29-year-old has experienced ups and downs, and he’s never been an outstanding quarterback.
Behind running back Najee Harris, Pittsburgh might have a strong run game. He rushed for 1,200 yards and seven touchdowns, breaking Franco Harris’ Steelers rookie running record. Harris might go to the next level in 2022 if the front management revamps the offensive line.
Wentz, like a young Ben Roethlisberger, has outstanding movement in the pocket. That might entice the team’s top brass, since he’s a stronger choice than what’s already on the roster.
Why did the Colts’ deal fall through?
2/18/2021 The #Eagles agree to trade QB Carson Wentz to the #Colts for a ’21 3rd Rd pick, & a ’22 1st Rd pick, taking on a record $33.8M dead hit.
Both IND and PHI won nine games. PHI has qualified for the playoffs. PHI has the #15 and #16 selections, as well as the #19 pick.
Indy might soon be on the hook for $15 million to let Wentz depart.

After five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Carson Wentz is dealt to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for several draft selections. He was unable to secure the starting quarterback position in Philadelphia, and the new start in Indianapolis looked to be a positive thing.
The Colts had a rough start to the season, losing their first three games. Frank Reich’s team had its ups and downs during the season, but they eventually reached a position where they could play their way into the playoffs. Jonathan Taylor, the squad’s running back, carried the team along with the defense for the most of the season.
Indianapolis has a 9-7 record heading into Week 18. To secure a postseason spot, the squad needed only to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. Isn’t that simple? The Colts, on the other hand, did not receive the message. They eventually blew it, losing 26-11 to the weakest club in the NFL.
Last but not least, Carson Wentz had one of his worst performances of the season. He threw for 185 yards on 17 of 29 attempts with one touchdown and one interception. While the quarterback was not exclusively to blame for the defeat, the fact that the team folded in a must-win situation left a sour taste in the mouths of the front office, particularly general manager Chris Ballard and owner Jim Irsay.
The Colts may release the sixth-year quarterback if they are unable to locate a trade partner for him. That would allow the Steelers to find a (at least temporary) successor for Ben Roethlisberger.

The Indianapolis Colts are planning to divorce Carson Wentz after a ‘1-Year Marriage That Went Wrong,’ according to reports.
