There are five different red skull clouds in Sea of Thieves, and they all offer different opportunities. Here’s how to find them and what you can do with the rewards once found.

Sea of Thieves is a pirate-themed action-adventure video game developed by Rare. The game was released on March 20, 2018 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. There are currently 10 world events in Sea of Thieves. Read more in detail here: sea of thieves world events list.

The air over the Sea of Thieves is regularly used to signify global events. Red tornadoes, cloud ships, the malevolent Captain Flameheart’s incandescent countenance, and red skull clouds All of them indicate that a one-of-a-kind global event is taking place, however their connotations aren’t always obvious.

The standard white and grey skull cloud alerts crews to the presence of a fort with a vault and a tiny gold trove underneath it, waiting for the taking if any crew can battle their way past the waves of skeletons to get the key. The Red Skull cloud looks similar, but there are a few key distinctions.

The active Fort of Fortune, a form of Mega Fort that operates independently of other world events, is indicated by the floating red skull. It’s a rare occurrence since two major international events can’t ordinarily occur at the same time. A skeleton fleet and a fire tornado will never appear at the same time, however you may see either of them with the Red Skull at the same moment.

The Fort of Fortune is far more challenging than a standard skull fort. A typical skull fort has ten waves of opponents, culminating in a confrontation with one of the three Skeleton Lords. The Fort of Fortune, on the other hand, is 18 waves long, with groups of Skeleton Captains thrown in here and there.

A fight against a Skeleton Lord is included in the 16th wave, much as it is at the conclusion of a conventional Skeleton Fort. The final two Skeleton Lords are in the 17th wave, while the 18th wave is a fight against an Ashen Lord, by far the most formidable adversary one may face on a regular journey. A Red Skull event is a challenge of strength and endurance that might take a long time to accomplish.

The benefits of a Fort of Fortune that is triggered by a Red Skull event are substantial. The Ashen Lord, Skeleton Lords, and Captains all drop precious skulls, and the vault is brimming with high-level loot, including two Kegs of Ancient Black Powder and a Chest of Legends.

But be wary: the Red Skull Cloud will vanish, and everyone in the water will know the riches is now possibly available for grabs. Be on the lookout for a loot snatching chance. Don’t bother attempting to conceal the key; it’s visible to everyone on the map. Instead, begin emptying the vault and prepare to protect your prized possessions.

Understanding the hazards and possible benefits of the Red Skull Cloud is an important step toward becoming a real Sea of Thieves legend. You may also look inside those strange Green Tornadoes or light up the skies with pyrotechnics.
