Patrick Mahomes is the NFL’s leader in touchdown passes, and he has been a source of entertainment for Kansas City Chiefs’ film room staffers. The third-year quarterback has been known to laugh out loud during meetings, which can be a distraction for his teammates.

Patrick Mahomes is the target of fits of laughter in the Kansas City Chiefs’ film room. Mahomes has been a fan favorite since he took over as the team’s starting quarterback. Read more in detail here: when was patrick mahomes born.

In 2018, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named NFL MVP. He’s a Super Bowl winner and one of the best quarterbacks in the league’s history. He doesn’t make many errors, but when he does, his locker room reportedly mocks him.

To be fair to Mahomes, he’s earned enough trust in Kansas City that he’s made a few mistakes and emerged relatively unharmed. At times, the plays he does make are spectacular. He’s got a cannon for an arm and the ability to make seemingly difficult plays seem simple.

In only four seasons as Kansas City’s primary quarterback, he has passed for 16,039 yards and 132 touchdowns. Those numbers include a season in which he passed for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns.

He’s fantastic, and that’s putting it mildly. Still, an interception he threw against the Washington Redskins in Week 6 may come back to haunt him.

Patrick Mahomes committed a stupid error that he normally avoids.

When Mahomes’ career is through, this is a play that will go down in history as one of his career’s lowlights.

When facing a third-and-short situation in the red zone, Mahomes and the Chiefs are usually lethal. Andy Reid’s offense can accomplish a lot, and when there aren’t many yards to gain and the end zone is in sight, his playbook is usually wide open.

With less than a minute remaining in the half, the Chiefs were leading 13-10. With the knowledge that they would get the ball in the second half, the stage was set for some aggressive Kansas City play.

But the end product was everything but.

Mahomes mishandled the ball just after the snap. He regained possession and slid awkwardly to his right, where he was confronted by a Washington defender. It would have made sense for Mahomes to eat the ball and try for a field goal or perhaps a fourth-down convert with two timeouts remaining. Instead, as he was being pulled down to the ground, he tossed the ball straight up into the air, resulting in a crucial turnover for Washington.

In the end, the Chiefs won 31-13, so the play didn’t matter in the big picture. But it didn’t stop Mahomes from hearing about it from his teammates.

During film study, Mahomes was mocked by his teammates.

Film sessions for football teams may be a fantastic way to relive past triumphs. It’s also an excellent place to be chastised by a coach for failing to complete an assignment or making a mistake.

Again, Mahomes is well-liked in Kansas City, so he didn’t elicit Reid’s wrath or a scolding from his QB coach. Instead, he was mocked by his teammates, according to Mahomes.

According to Sam McDowell, Mahomes stated, “Everybody just began laughing, even myself.”

Looking back on the interception is really pretty funny, given the game’s final score and Mahomes’ overall high level of skill. Mahomes, ever the professional, said he tried his best to push the incident out of his mind and move on in the present.

“You’re not going to offer any excuses.” “It occurred for no apparent reason,” Mahomes added. “All you have to do now is go on to the next play.”

“I did the same thing on the football field.” You can’t go back in time and think about it. It will most likely be displayed for an extended period of time. However, you must just go on to the next play. At the very least, I’ll be able to brag about winning a football game.”

Intriguingly, Mahomes has recently struggled with interceptions.

While the play in question was amusing, there is a less amusing statistic to consider when evaluating Mahomes’ performance in 2021.

This is not a piece about whether Patrick Mahomes is losing his touch, and nothing along those lines should be published. That being said, Kansas City hasn’t looked like the Super Bowl contender we’ve come to expect, and Mahomes has battled with turnovers, which is unusual for him.

This season, he’s thrown eight interceptions. In 2020, he threw a total of six passes. He’s also had a few games with two interceptions. He threw two interceptions against the Washington Redskins, two interceptions against the Buffalo Bills, and two interceptions against the Los Angeles Chargers. In fact, Mahomes’ only game without an interception came against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. In each of Kansas City’s past five games, he has thrown at least one interception.

As a consequence, the Chiefs are 2-3 over that time period, which is not unexpected.

Interceptions can happen, and Mahomes has proved to be an MVP quarterback in the NFL. Brett Favre, for example, threw 336 passes in his career and is considered one of the best quarterbacks of all time.

In the long term, Mahomes will be OK, but the current interception pattern is perplexing.

ESPN and Pro Football Reference provided the statistics.
