Los Angeles Rams quarterback, Jared Goff and linebacker, Khalil Mack are both receiving sacks in the NFL thus far this season. The two stars may not be leaving Los Angeles anytime soon though as they have each signed a four-year contract worth $134 million with the team. This means that if either of them decide to leave after Super Bowl 56 then they would still owe their former team millions of dollars thanks to bad contracts.

The Rams’ acquisition of Matthew Stafford set the tone for the 2021 season, placing them on a one-track path to Super Bowl 56.
After edging out the San Francisco 49ers in a dramatic 20-17 victory in the NFC championship game, Los Angeles is just one win away from achieving that ultimate objective. Stafford led the Rams back from a 17-7 deficit in the fourth quarter, culminating in a late-game drive that ended with kicker Matt Gay’s 31-yard game-winning field goal.
Los Angeles may receive more encouraging news about the long-term fates of two of its important players as the club approaches the coveted trophy.

Since putting all of their chips in to get Stafford last offseason, the Rams’ front management has embraced that strategy even more with the splashy signings of Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr.
After a buyout with the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles traded up multiple high selection choice assets to get Stafford and Miller, while Beckham joined the organization on a veteran’s minimum one-year deal. The instant assumption was that the Rams’ mid-season arrivals would be temporary loans since they didn’t have the financial space to bring both or either back.
However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport pointed out an intriguing twist that favors Los Angeles. The team’s former players’ dead-cap hits would free up a large amount of room. Jared Goff ($24.7 million), Todd Gurley ($8.4 million), DeSean Jackson ($3.4 million), and Michael Brockers ($2.67 million) have all taken financial knocks, resulting in a $39 million hole in the books.
Beckham’s continued improvement, particularly in the playoffs when he had 19 receptions for 236 yards and a score, has increased his worth tremendously ahead of free agency. Meanwhile, Miller has risen to the occasion, making game-changing plays both during the regular season and in the playoffs. Both will get a lot of attention from across the league, but the Rams will have more financial freedom to make sensible offers.
The issue is whether Beckham or Miller will accept a reduced pay to remain with the Rams. Both have seamlessly integrated into the team’s culture and character. They might be crucial going forward in keeping Los Angeles in contention for the Super Bowl.
The Rams have a lot of personnel choices to make this summer.

Although the Rams’ season isn’t finished yet, it’s difficult not to look forward to the approaching summer.
The roster of free agents includes Beckham and Miller, as well as running back Sony Michel, guard Austin Corbett, and cornerback Darius Williams. The front office will strive hard to maintain much of their talent in order to keep them in contention for the Super Bowl.
The Rams may not have a lot of high-draft picks, but they have a lot of their key players signed to multi-year contracts. Stafford’s deal runs through the 2022 season at a bargain price of $23 million, and he is expected to be extended soon.
Several of their top players, including Andrew Whitworth, Rob Havenstein, Taylor Rapp, and David Long, aren’t expected to leave until the 2023 offseason. The Rams have a lot of work ahead of them in the coming months, but given the front office’s track record, fans should have a lot of faith in general manager Les Snead.
