Nick Foles is in talks to sign a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams traded for the de facto Eagles starting quarterback because they couldn’t reach a deal with the Eagles. The news comes from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, who was the only reporter to leak the news.

In his first chance to take over a game as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator, Frank Reich landed on his feet. Foles was on his way to a career-best day when Reich was fired, and a man who has been a disciple of Andy Reid since they were both assistants in Kansas City, Reich was not about to let a hot seat hold him back.

Nick Foles was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 NFL Draft for a third-round pick in 2020. The Philadelphia Eagles were able to get a return on their investment, signing the QB to a two-year, $26 million contract with a team option for 2021.. Following quarterback Carson Wentz’s recent setback, many fans speculated on who the Indianapolis Colts could turn to in his absence. Given that his former Philadelphia Eagles backup, Nick Foles, is now a third-string quarterback with the Chicago Bears, and that Colts head coach Frank Reich worked with both of them on the Eagles in 2017, Foles’ name has come up a lot recently.

Despite Foles lately sounded as though he wants to join the Colts, Reich seems to have put an end to that possibility.

Nick Foles praised his former Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich.

Nick Foles, the Chicago Bears’ third-string quarterback behind Andy Dalton and rookie Justin Fields, has been the subject of trade speculation lately.

So, when questioned about perhaps teaming up with Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich — who served as the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2017 season, when Foles led the team to a Super Bowl victory in lieu of an injured Wentz — the QB had a lot to say.

According to NBC Sports, Foles stated, “Listen, Frank Reich is one of my favorite, if not my favorite coach of all time.” “He knows who I am as a player and who I am as a person. I haven’t spoken to them in a long time. Right now, I’m a Chicago Bear. But he is aware of my existence. You witnessed what occurred during the 2017 season and playoffs, when he revamped the offense and centered it around me. So he was able to develop my mindset as a player around me and place me in a good situation, as well as my teammates.”

Foles, on the other hand, would just be filling in for Wentz as he heals from a foot injury that will keep him out for five to twelve weeks. When Foles returns, Wentz is expected to be the starting ahead of him.

Foles added, “They have Carson, and Carson and I have a lot of history.” “I have a lot of respect for Carson; he’s a fantastic player who is going through hardship once again, but he’ll come back stronger. … We haven’t had any discussions, so for the time being, I’m a Chicago Bear, and I’m going to keep slinging it with these third-stringers, and we’ll dice ’em up.”

Despite the fact that Wentz is in Indianapolis, Foles seems like a player who would like playing with Reich. But what does Reich think?

Frank Reich does not seem to be interested in trading for Nick Foles.

Frank Reich claims to have seen the video of Nick Foles’ remarks but has yet to speak with him.

Reich recently spoke with Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show on the status of his team. As a result, McAfee inquired into Foles’ remarks.

On the Aug. 3 show, Reich stated, “I have all the respect in the world for Nick.” “He’s a big-time player now and a crucial player. He’s a better person than I am. He’s a fantastic teammate. I saw the video, I saw the video; someone presented it to me. When he says we haven’t spoken, he is telling the truth. We’re buddies, and he’s a Chicago Bear, so we’ll always be friends. We’re concentrating on the players we have. And we’re going to stay on that path.”

According to Reich’s remarks, the Colts aren’t interested in dealing for Foles, which may be due to the quarterback’s $12 million salary, according to Spotrac. But, if Wentz isn’t ready for the season and they don’t sign Foles, who else could play quarterback for the Colts?

If Carson Wentz is still out, who can the Colts bring in to play quarterback?

While Wentz is out, Indianapolis doesn’t have a lot of alternatives.

Frank Reich and the club seem to be sticking with Jacob Eason, a second-year player who was Indy’s third-stringer last season. He was a five-star quarterback entering college and performed well at Georgia and then Washington, but he was subsequently drafted in the fourth round by the Indianapolis Colts in 2020.

Assume, however, that Eason has a hard time growing into a starter before Week 1. In that scenario, Indianapolis might seek to trade for guys like Marcus Mariota, Jimmy Garoppolo, Gardner Minshew, or, yes, Nick Foles, who will most likely be on the bench for their respective teams this season. Chris Ballard, the Colts’ general manager, has never been one to trade draft choices, so this is likely his final option.

Then there’s Philip Rivers, who guided the Indianapolis Colts to a playoff spot last season before retiring at the conclusion of the season. According to ESPN, he recently said that he isn’t ruling out the possibility of returning later in the season, so Indianapolis may attempt to persuade him to return sooner. However, since he is the head coach of a high school football team, this may be problematic.

Indianapolis boasts one of the most talented rosters in the league. However, without a reliable quarterback at the helm, things may rapidly deteriorate. The Colts should leave all options open if Wentz’s rehab timeline ends up being closer to 12 weeks than five. It might be the difference between a playoff run and a top-15 draft selection if they don’t.
