After his Phoenix Suns had a season that was quite possibly the most consistent in NBA history, head coach Monty Williams accepted an invitation to coach for the Western Conference All-Stars. There are many reasons why it is tough for teams to remain consistently great over 82 games–but after winning 60% of their games last year, there’s no denying that this team has some impressive staying power.

“Monty Williams Will Proudly Coach In the NBA All-Star Game to Honor the Consistency of His Phoenix Suns” is a blog post written by Monty Williams, head coach of the Phoenix Suns. He will be coaching in the NBA All-Star game that will be played on Feb. 18th, 2019. Read more in detail here: phoenix suns head coach.

Monty Williams Will Proudly Coach In the NBA All-Star Game to Honor the Consistency of His Phoenix Suns

Monty Williams, the coach of the Phoenix Suns, is certainly one of the most revered men in the NBA, notably for his grace in the face of unfathomable sorrow and loss. After everything that Williams and his family have been through in recent years, no one should feel embarrassed of cheering for him to win the NBA Finals last year.

Given his modest character, the courteous and considerate way in which Williams carried himself this past weekend after securing one of the positions to coach in the NBA All-Star Game was not unexpected.

Williams personifies the notion of selflessness and sacrifice at an age when our society seems to be self-absorbed in every manner. Williams earned the individual distinction of coaching in the NBA All-Star Game after guiding the Suns to a stunning 41-9 record. Because Williams never made it as a player there, the victory must have been more sweeter.

Despite this, Williams managed to make the award about his team’s successes rather than himself.

Suns coach Monty Williams will relish his All-Star selection as a way to recognize his team’s commitment.

When a club has the best record in its conference, its coach is appointed the head coach of one of the two teams playing in the NBA All-Star Game. The All-Star Game will be held on Feb. 20 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. The captains, LeBron James and Kevin Durant, will choose their lineups early next week.

Monty Williams has already secured one of the coaching positions as a result of the Phoenix Suns’ dominance this season. At the NBA All-Star Game, he will lead Team LeBron.

Rather than downplaying the accomplishment, Williams pledged to be grateful for it as a means to commemorate his team’s hard work and sacrifice this season. Following the team’s victory on Saturday night to clinch the playoff berth, Williams gave a heartfelt locker room tribute to his players and coaches.

“I don’t take anything for granted because I know what it’s like in this league because I’ve been around it for a long time,” Williams said from the locker room’s center, surrounded by teammates. “You like it when you have a nice bunch. We have a great team and a unique opportunity. I appreciate you people from the bottom of my heart for being who you are.”

Williams, it turned out, was just getting started with his message.

“I can sit here and say, ‘Awwww, (coaching in the NBA All-Star Game) isn’t such a big thing,’” says the coach. The players were informed by Williams. “However, do you know what? That would be a discredit to what you guys accomplish on a daily basis. That would be a disservice to the gifts that God bestows on us on a daily basis. Congratulations!”

Williams has every right to be pleased with the way his Phoenix Suns have trounced their opponents.

The Suns have winning streaks of 18 and 11 games this season.

Last season, the Phoenix Suns won the Western Conference, came within two wins of winning the NBA championship, and finished with the best record in the league. Not that anybody would notice, given the Suns’ remarkable ability to fly under the national radar. The NBA world has been more interested by Ben Simmons’ holdout, Russell Westbrook’s benching and shoots off the top of the backboard, and Kyrie Irving’s overall eccentricity for whatever reason.

Phoenix has dodged the NBA Finals “hangover” that has suffocated the Milwaukee Bucks for the most of the season. The Suns have won 41 of their first 50 games, dominated games in the fourth quarter with ice-cold efficiency, and played like a team on a mission. They’ve already won 18 and 11 games in a row, with the last one coming after a thrashing of the hapless Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night.

Monty Williams will play in the NBA All-Star Game for the Phoenix Suns, who have been ignored.

Chris Paul, the outstanding point guard for the Phoenix Suns, has led his club to a 14-1 record and an 11-game winning run since January 1.

Both Chris Paul and Devin Booker should have started the NBA All-Star Game, but the fans, players, and media all voted against them. Even ahead of do-it-all big men Nikola Joki, Joel Embiid, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, as well as the DeMar DeRozan comeback narrative, Paul should be in the MVP conversation.

Paul has been the ultimate game-changer for a Suns team that has battled to find its footing for more than a decade. They won the West last season with Paul, and they may do it again this year.

“I know we talk a lot about — and rightfully so — what LeBron (James) is doing in his 19th year,” TNT commentator Dwyane Wade said on Tuesday night. “But we don’t speak a lot about what Chris Paul is doing at 36 years old, in his 17th year, and at 6-foot tall on a good day.” “The first thing that comes to mind when you think about Chris Paul is a leader. Devin Booker is, without a doubt, the up-and-coming star. ‘Listen, I’m going to bring you to the next level,’ Chris stated when he arrived. It’s also what he’s done for everyone around him, including JaVale McGee and (Bismack) Biyombo, in terms of building confidence. We don’t offer him enough flowers. He’s still one of the top 15 players in our game at 36 years old, which is unbelievable.”

While Paul and Booker were passed over, Phoenix’s Monty Williams will serve as the head coach for the NBA All-Star Game. Nobody deserves it more than Williams, whose Suns have gone 14-1 since the start of the season and are on a 68-win pace.

Williams will be the 12th African-American head coach of an NBA All-Star Game in league history, which is significant given the NFL’s issues with diversity in the coaching ranks.

Of course, the NBA All-Star Game head coach will have about the same level of responsibilities as the first-base coach in a Major League Baseball game. Williams may jot down the rotations and even draw up a handful of plays down the stretch in this essentially ceremonial capacity.

Williams, on the other hand, will not belittle this distinction or the significance of the chance. Anything of the type, Williams warned his players last week, would be insulting to a Phoenix squad that has put everything into this season. Williams, on the other hand, chooses to be grateful and appreciative of people around him.

“It’s a big privilege to be in this position where you can be the steward of an organization and represent the city, your team, and your family,” Williams said after Phoenix’s triumph on Saturday night. “I’m aware of all the sacrifices made by others in order for me to be in this position.” It is, without a doubt, a collaborative effort.”
