Mike Tyson passed on some of the intense advice that he was given by his boxing coach, Cus D’Amato to his daughter. In a recent interview with ESPN’s Stephen A Smith, Mike Tyson said: “I told her, ‘Don’t be like me.’ I told her, ‘Be smarter than me.’”
Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight boxing champion, would not have progressed far in his profession — or in life — if it hadn’t been for famed trainer Cus D’Amato. After Tyson’s mother died when he was 16, the late D’Amato took him under his wing. He gave Tyson a lot of advise and wise words, which Iron Mike still utilizes today. In fact, Tyson isn’t hesitant about imparting some of that wisdom to his young daughter, who is attempting to break into the tennis scene.

Tyson had a criminal past well before he reached his adolescent years. He said he had been arrested 40 times before he was a teenager during an interview on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast last year.
“I didn’t want to disappoint my mum,” he said. “My mum accomplished a great deal. I’m always going to police stations to have my ass kicked out. In front of the cops, she would thrash my a$$. I’d been arrested 40 times before I turned 12 years old. My mother was modest and proud, whereas I was conceited.”
Tyson would not have met D’Amato if he hadn’t spent time in a juvenile correctional institution. Bobby Stewart, a counselor at the Tryon School for Boys, introduced D’Amato and Tyson. Stewart, a former boxer, assisted several of the youngsters in improving their boxing abilities and saw Tyson’s innate potential.
D’Amato worked with Tyson and had a close relationship with him. Tyson moved live with D’Amato, who took over as his legal guardian when Tyson’s mother died.
Tyson was 11-0 in his professional boxing career when D’Amato died. In a 1986 Sports Illustrated interview, the boxer referred to D’Amato as his “backbone.”
“I really miss dad,” Tyson remarked. “We worked on things for a long time, and we worked on things for a long time. He was a rock for me. Everything we worked on is beginning to come together nicely. He’d be overjoyed if he could merely see them.”
Cus D’Amato’s guidance is being passed on to Mike Tyson’s daughter.

Tyson has developed a passion for another sport thanks to his daughter Milan. Milan, 13, aspires to be a professional tennis player, and Tyson is overjoyed to be a tennis father. Tyson says tennis has altered his life in an interview with Serena Williams’ tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, which was provided by Deep MMA & Boxing.
“Listen, it extended my horizons,” Tyson remarked. “I’m just really thankful to be connected with men like you and meeting everyone.” “It completely transformed our lives.” Our whole lives have altered as a result of tennis, which is hard to believe.
“I felt we were doing well and that everything we did was profitable, but it’s nothing compared to my kid playing tennis.” “Right now, she’s greater than anything in our lives.”

Tyson has become a tennis enthusiast after seeing how it has benefited his daughter’s development.
“I see her becoming into somebody she wouldn’t have been before she got into tennis,” he remarked. “At 11, 12 years old, she is self-assured. She has a tremendous degree of self-assurance.”
Milan’s view on life at such a young age also impresses Tyson.
“I’m pleased to have someone in my family who knows what it’s like when things don’t go your way.” That’s what life is all about; things don’t always go your way, but you have to deal with your circumstances and misfortunes.
Discipline does this. You may not win every match, but you may learn from your mistakes and deal with failure.”
Tyson heard a familiar narrative from D’Amato, and he’s now witnessing it unfold on the tennis court.
