Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf is one of the greatest basketball players of all-time. He was a high school phenom who scored a career high of over 1,000 points and was the number one pick in the 1990 NBA Draft. Abdul-Rauf was a member of the NBA’s all-star team during the 1988-89 season. In the first round of the 1989 NBA Playoffs, Abdul-Rauf scored 38 points in a game against the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls won that game, but the next round, the Bulls would lose to the Portland Trailblazers, and Abdul-Rauf would be in the NBA for another year.
The NBA was a crazy place when Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf was playing. There were a lot of superstars in the league at the time: the major household names (Kobe, Shaq, Penny, Bird, Stockton, Malone, Worthy), and the up-and-comers (Pippen, Jordan, Barkley, Stockton, Malone, Barkley, Charles). But none of these players could touch the electrifying, innovative player Abdul-Rauf was.
