The Baltimore Ravens gave Lamar Jackson a $56 million contract extension this week, but the quarterback still has to prove that he can be an effective player for the team. If Jackson struggles on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, his future with the Ravens could become in jeopardy.

Lamar Jackson is a quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, and he signed a contract extension worth $56 million. However, in order to avoid a staggering fate on Sunday Night Football, he needs Mark Andrews to back up his $56 million contract extension by catching touchdown passes from Joe Flacco. The Baltimore Ravens are hurting following a humiliating defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football. The squad has little time to nurse its wounds after such a short week as they prepare for another primetime test. They’ll face the two-time reigning AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs this time. To escape a 0-2 start, Lamar Jackson will need assistance, starting with Mark Andrews.

Mark Andrews was rewarded with a contract extension worth $56 million.

Before the start of the season, the Ravens signed tight end Mark Andrews to a four-year contract extension. The contract may be worth up to $56 million, making him the NFL’s third highest-paid tight end. The agreement includes a guarantee of $37.6 million.

Andrews has been a prolific player since his arrival in the league, earning a long-term contract. In the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Ravens selected him with the 86th overall selection. The Oklahoma tight end gave Baltimore a real weapon at the tight end position.

In his first three seasons with the Ravens, Andrews has 156 catches for 2,105 yards and 20 touchdowns. In 2019, he was named to the Pro Bowl after receiving a career-high ten touchdown passes.

Under offensive coordinator Greg Roman, Baltimore employs a run-heavy approach. Andrew, on the other hand, has been able to create. The native of Scottsdale, Arizona, has proved to be an important part of the Ravens’ attack.

Andrews’ skill is highly regarded by general manager Eric DeCosta. According to The Baltimore Sun, he’s “one of the best tight ends in the whole NFL.”

With so many injuries in the Ravens’ locker room, Andrews will be needed more than ever in 2021.

Andrews was inactive for the Ravens’ Week 1 defeat to the Raiders.

Over the last several seasons, the Ravens offense has been one of the most potent in the NFL. In the season opener against the Raiders, they lacked the same explosiveness.

The roster, particularly the offense, has been devastated by injuries. Along with Lamar Jackson, J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards were anticipated to lead the running game. With Jackson and running back Ty’Son Williams leading the way, Baltimore was still able to run the ball effectively.

Marquise Brown and Sammy Watkins, both wide receivers, used their speed to create separation and make a couple plays. Mark Andrews, on the other hand, did not show up in the same way.

Andrews was targeted five times for a total of 20 yards on three catches. In overtime, he also had a poor drop, which negated a potential first down. After a Jackson fumble, the drive finally came to a halt.

It’s just one game, so his quiet start to the season isn’t too concerning. The Ravens, on the other hand, pay the fourth-year tight end to make huge plays. In Week 1, he failed to accomplish so.

Mark Andrews has to have a huge game for Lamar Jackson and the offense.

In their home opener, the Ravens take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. They totaled 406 yards of offense against the Raiders in a balanced approach.

If the Ravens are going to beat the Chiefs, they’ll have to produce more huge plays on offense. There’s a lot of weight on Lamar Jackson’s shoulders going into this game.

The former MVP is 0-3 against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. His problems with Kansas City are well-known. He has to be able to break out from this narrative, no matter how unjust it is. In the AFC, the Chiefs are a household brand, and they were favored to win Super Bowl LVI.

Jackson, on the other hand, will not be able to win this game by himself. He is in desperate need of assistance. Simply said, the offensive line has to improve. The Ravens’ offensive tackles were harassed by Maxx Crosby and Carl Nassib. Another mediocre primetime performance isn’t going to cut it.

In games when the Ravens had to play from behind, Greg Roman has panicked. Instead of playing Ravens football, he likes to stray from the game plan and heap more burden on Jackson. If Kansas City takes an early lead, he’ll need to demonstrate composure in his play-calling.

Jackson’s big-time playmakers will have to make big-time plays as well. Mark Andrews received his funds. Now he must show that he is deserving of the position. He has the skills of a top-tier NFL tight end. Drops due to a lack of focus are not an option for the Ravens. Jackson will have his much-needed security blanket if he turns up.

Above all, Lamar Jackson must concentrate on the football. It’s not impossible for the Ravens to beat the Chiefs, but they’ll need a few things to go their way.
