They had a healthy Stephen Curry, who scored 38 points. Kevin Durant had his best shooting night in a long time, scoring a career high with 52 points.

Kevin Durant is half a world away as he represents the United States in the Tokyo Olympics men’s basketball tournament. That doesn’t mean, however, that the Brooklyn Nets forward didn’t experience an exciting day in New York City.
Despite the fact that the 2021 NBA Draft was held in Brooklyn, where Cade Cunningham was selected first overall by the Detroit Pistons, Durant’s pleasure had nothing to do with basketball.
Durant, on the other hand, had another another outstanding day on Wall Street, which he has done on a regular basis.

Durant didn’t get the No. 1 selection in the 2007 draft (Portland choose Greg Oden instead), but almost everything else has gone well for the 6-foot-10 forward. Durant was overwhelmingly voted Rookie of the Year by fans, and he has since gone on to win MVP awards in two All-Star Games and two NBA Finals.
The lone blemish on a résumé that includes averages of 27.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game is missing the whole 2019-20 season while rehabbing an injury. He’s previously played in 151 postseason games, averaging 29.5 points per game while logging significant playing time.
Durant will almost certainly be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in the near future.

Durant has previously won two gold medals in the Olympics, one in London in 2012 and the other in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. On Thursday, the Nets star got encouraging news from New York City as he wrapped off his first week in Tokyo in quest of a third gold medal.
Durant seems to have a knack for selecting investing possibilities via his Thirty Five Ventures company, in addition to being a great basketball player. Thursday was a huge day for one of the businesses in which he had shown an early interest.
Robinhood Markets, Inc., a high-profile online brokerage and financial services platform focusing in making investing accessible to small investors, debuted on the NASDAQ market with an initial public offering.
Durant’s business invested an undisclosed sum of money in Robinhood in 2017, when the startup was looking for venture capitalists to finance it. Thirty Five Ventures’ average investments at the time, according to Sportico.com, ranged from $250,000 to $1 million. At the time, Crunchbase valued Robinhood at $1.2 billion.
Robinhood enabled Durant to make a 2,000 percent return on his investment by starting at $38 a share and then falling down to $34.82 after the markets closed Thursday.
His huge victory on Robinhood wasn’t his first big win on Wall Street.
As an investor, Durant, 32, has had a better month than Team USA has had in Tokyo. Mercury, an online banking start-up, received more venture capital financing in July, bringing its value to $1.6 billion. Durant invested in 2019 when the company was only worth $100 million.
The precise amount of the NBA star’s stake is yet unknown. Sportico, on the other hand, claims that he has increased the amount of some recent investments to as much as $3 million. Durant will be able to cash in at a multiple much higher than his big Robinhood score if Mercury gets it to the finish line with its own IPO.
That would be in line with previous achievements. Coinbase Global, Inc., for example, went public in April and saw its market value rocket over $100 billion. The stock has dropped 45 percent since then, but Durant’s investment is said to be worth more than 50 times what he put in in 2017.
Thirty Five Ventures, which he manages with longstanding business partner Rich Kleiman, has reportedly invested in 75 start-ups. Durant also purchased a 5% stake in the Philadelphia Union, a Major League Soccer team.
Outsiders have no idea how lucrative Thirty Five Ventures has been for Durant since it is a privately owned business. However, considering his previous achievements and the $580 million in NBA salary and endorsements that Sportico claims Durant has earned, he may very well be on his way to a $1 billion career earnings.
