The Golden State Warriors have a new quarterback now that Jimmy Garoppolo is in the mix. The top-tier free agent has reportedly agreed to terms on a five-year $137 million deal with San Francisco, which could be enough for him to stay put and make this his long-term home. If he does decide to stick around, it will leave many teams across the league scrambling at quarterback while they are already depleted up front.

Jimmy Garoppolo might stick around in San Francisco after wild QB frenzy. There are rumors that the 49ers might be interested in keeping him around on a new contract. Read more in detail here: jimmy garoppolo contract end date.

Jimmy Garoppolo Might Stick Around in San Francisco After Wild QB Frenzy

Trey Lance is set to take over as the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers in 2022. Is that the case?

The NFL quarterback landscape changes with each passing week, and with the NFL Draft less than a month away, it should alter much more before then. Deshaun Watson was moved to Cleveland, Matt Ryan was traded, Russell Wilson found a new home, and Carson Wentz was sent to Washington.

With Jameis Winston returning to New Orleans and Marcus Mariota and Mitchell Trubisky finding a plausible road to starting positions in 2022, the free-agent market has dried up swiftly. Only Jimmy Garoppolo and Baker Mayfield are in the running.

That’s bad news for the 49ers, who looked to be considering trading Garoppolo at the start of the offseason.

The NFL quarterback market has suddenly dried up, and a slew of major names have gone on.

Russell Wilson is heading to Denver. Deshaun Watson is on his way to Cleveland. Matt Ryan is heading to Indianapolis.

What is the next quarterback trade?

The NFL offseason snatched the spotlight right away. Russell Wilson joined the Denver Broncos, Deshaun Watson joined the Cleveland Browns, and Matt Ryan joined the Indianapolis Colts.

As part of the Wilson blockbuster, Drew Lock is in Seattle. Marcus Mariota and Mitchell Trubisky signed new contracts with the Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively, as interim starters. Carson Wentz was also traded from the Indianapolis Colts to the Washington Commanders.

Kyler Murray isn’t going away, and Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are still wearing the same uniforms they wore in 2021, despite the hoopla.

As a result, the quarterback market is very bare, which is bad news for the 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo.

Baker Mayfield is another name on the trade market, but the list of QB-needy clubs is slim, and Mayfield’s deal is deterring teams from parting with valuable draft money.

Because there aren’t many free agency quarterbacks left, Garoppolo and Mayfield are the two most popular options.

With Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota no longer available, the remaining free-agent quarterbacks are:

Cam Newton is a quarterback for the Carolina Panthers Andy Dalton is a British actor. Ryan Fitzpatrick (Ryan Fitzpatrick) Smith, Geno Gabbert, Blaine Trevor Siemian is a professional baseball player. Glennon, Mike Mullens, Nick Sean Mannion is a writer and a musician. Dobbs, Josh McCarron, AJ Rosen, Josh Nathan Peterman is a writer who lives in New York City

Unfortunately, there aren’t many suitors, so both clubs may be forced to wait for now.

The 49ers may decide to retain Jimmy Garoppolo in San Francisco for the 2022 season.

At this point, it should be evident that the 49ers place a higher value on the possible trade return for Garoppolo than the money that a trade would free up — which makes sense given current NFL income predictions. Pushing money into the future/affording agreements today is considerably more viable than it has ever been.

As things stand now, the 49ers may have no option but to re-sign Garoppolo. If clubs don’t come calling, as David Lombardi points out, they’ll be able to pay him in 2022.

They could juggle contracts and find a way to fit it in, but Kyle Shanahan and Trey Lance would be in yet another difficult predicament.

The Colts were mentioned as a possible landing spot for Garoppolo before Matt Ryan became available. The Steelers were interested, but signing Trubisky eliminates the possibility of a trade for Garoppolo, particularly if they choose a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft as predicted.

The Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers are the only teams left. The Panthers look to be set to go with Sam Darnold again. At this point, that’s pretty much it.

Garoppolo’s surgery isn’t improving his value, and the 49ers don’t need to hurry into a trade right now. So maybe San Francisco will hold him and wait for something to happen, such as an injury.

What does this signify for Garoppolo’s future? We saw that with the 49ers’ decision to keep him on the roster to start the new league year: they can afford him. And if they can afford it now, they may be able to afford it till they find a greater trading return later.

Nonetheless, this isn’t the circumstance the 49ers anticipated, and their hopes for Garoppolo as a first-round choice have been dashed.

The Carolina Panthers are the only plausible landing destination at this point. Yes, Drew Lock is listed first on the depth chart for the Seahawks.

It would be surprising if Seattle did not choose a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft. More than that, the Seahawks have sang Lock’s praises since acquiring him, indicating that they are confident in starting him at the start of the season.

Do you believe the 49ers would trade Garoppolo to a rival team? It’s really unlikely.

The Panthers are the obvious pick, and Matt Rhule’s urgency to turn things around is at the center of everything. If the Panthers don’t turn things around, Rhule will most likely be laid off again.

Despite the Panthers’ recent statements about Darnold, Garoppolo and his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery must be on their minds.

Jimmy Garoppolo, Don Yee, Matt Rhule, Scott Fitterer, and John Lynch should lock themselves up until a settlement is reached. It’s best for everyone.

Rhule needs a new quarterback if he doesn’t want to be fired. Jimmy needs the Panthers if he wants to start.

The 49ers, on the other hand, do not need to hasten this. After all, it’s possible that Shanahan isn’t entirely convinced on Lance as a starter.

Garoppolo led the 49ers to the NFC championship game, and Shanahan reaffirmed his faith for him while saying that Lance wasn’t ready. So it’s possible that’s still the case.

Garoppolo seemed like he’d be playing somewhere else in 2022 only a month ago. However, the NFL environment has altered swiftly, and the 49ers may be out of luck, which means a Garoppolo-Lance quarterback carousel might return to the Bay Area.
