AFC West clubs have made significant personnel changes to stay up with each other during the chaotic NFL offseason.
The Denver Broncos kicked things off by signing star quarterback Russell Wilson, who was quickly followed by pass rusher Randy Gregory. The Chargers retaliated by signing Khalil Mack, the former Defensive Player of the Year, to team with Pro Bowler Joey Bosa. Los Angeles then hired J.C. Jackson to bolster their secondary in order to fight against the division’s other elite quarterbacks.
Meanwhile, the Raiders have remained active, acquiring pass rusher Chandler Jones and dealing for wide receiver Davante Adams. Despite the fact that Tyreek Hill was released, the Chiefs signed former Pro Bowl wide out JuJu Smith-Schuster and have over $28 million in salary-cap room to acquire another wide receiver.

“They better be ready for us,” said Jackson, per Tyler Dragon of USA Today. “I don’t want to talk about him. They better be ready for us.”
Jackson’s self-assurance is palpable, particularly after signing his five-year, $82.5 million contract. Since joining the NFL in 2018, he has a total of 25 interceptions in his first four seasons. Meanwhile, Adams is unlikely to back down from these comments, having heard them previously from other elite defensive backs.
Before their divisional-round encounter in 2021, the Pro Bowl wideout traded barbs with Los Angeles Rams standout Jalen Ramsey. In the Packers’ triumph, Adams caught all five targets for 41 yards despite Ramsey’s tight coverage.
He’s no stranger to trash talk, preferring to let his on-field performance speak for itself. Adams and Jackson both signed five-year contracts, so they’ll have plenty of opportunities to play each other at least twice a year for the next several seasons.
The Raiders and Davante Adams are up to the task.

Each divisional encounter will be marked by strong competitiveness, as seen by the growing intensity.
Every club in the AFC West has a quarterback who has demonstrated he can lead them to the postseason. The Raiders are coming off their first playoff appearance in five years and have ramped up their attempts to stay up with the rest of the division by overhauling their coaching staff and squad.

If the Raiders didn’t feel they could compete in what may now be the league’s toughest division, they wouldn’t have acquired Adams. Time will tell, but the franchise is gearing up to compete for a second consecutive postseason spot.
