Michael Jordan has been called the best basketball player of all time. He is also someone who many players have cited as an important role model for them on and off the court, with his signature tenacity and competitiveness inspiring generations to win more than they expected. In a recent interview however, he was asked about what qualities could be learned from him that can improve their own game today-and surprisingly Jordan responded by saying “I never said I was better at anything.”

Who’d have guessed that by 2021, the most infamous sports rivalry will be between Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan? However, here we are. Pippen has been vocal about his sentiments regarding Jordan and The Last Dance in recent months, and even more so recently when promoting his biography Unguarded.
In fact, Pippen criticizes MJ’s teammateship in the book, claiming that the Chicago Bulls won “despite” his conduct.

Since the publication of The Last Dance, Scottie Pippen has largely been critical of Michael Jordan. However, in the last several weeks, the Hall of Famer has had a lot to say.
Pippen expressed his disappointment with how the documentary “glorified Michael Jordan while not offering nearly enough appreciation” to him and his colleagues in an extract from Unguarded.
“A substantial share of the responsibility should go to Michael. He was given editorial control over the finished product by the producers. Otherwise, the document could not have been made public. According to CBS Sports, Pippen wrote, “He was the main guy and the director.” “… Except Michael was hell-bent on proving to the current generation of fans that he was bigger-than-life in his day—and still bigger than LeBron James, whom many see as his equal, if not greater.”
Then, in a Sirius XM NBA Radio interview, he dismissed Jordan’s “flu game” in the 1997 NBA Finals.
“Do you think it’s easier to play with a herniated disc or the flu?” Pippen was speaking about his back issue in the NBA Finals in 1998. “… There aren’t many ‘bad back games,’ but there are plenty of ‘flu games.’ “Come on, flu.”
Of course, those remarks aren’t Pip’s only beef with MJ.

While Pippen’s recollections of The Last Dance are likely to be positive, it is also likely to be negative.
According to CBS Sports, “In the film, Michael sought to rationalize the situations in which he berated a teammate in front of the group.” “He believed that these players needed to have the most tenacity in order to beat the NBA’s more physical clubs.” I shuddered when I saw Michael treat his teammates the same way he did back then.”
Jordan’s chastisement, according to Pippen, had nothing to do with the Bulls’ six championships.
“Michael was mistaken. Because he got on folks, we didn’t win six titles. According to CBS Sports, Pippen wrote, “We won despite him getting on players.” “We won because we played team basketball, which wasn’t the case during Doug Collins’ first two seasons as our coach. That’s what made playing for the Bulls so special: the friendship we developed with one another, not the fact that we were on the same team as the incomparable Michael Jordan.”
His most daring remark, though, was that he thought he was a greater teammate than Jordan.
According to CBS Sports, he wrote, “I was a far greater teammate than Michael ever was.” “Ask anybody who has ever played with us. I was always there for a slap on the back or a word of encouragement, particularly after he had put someone down for whatever reason. I assisted others in believing in themselves and overcoming their doubts.”
Is Pippen correct? Was he, in fact, the superior teammate?
Scottie Pippen was an excellent teammate, according to other Bulls players.
While some may consider Scottie Pippen’s claim that he was a better teammate than Michael Jordan arrogant, his claims seem to be warranted.
According to ESPN, Bill Wennington, who was a member of Chicago’s second three-peat squad, stated Pip was his “favorite Bulls teammate.” Steve Kerr, on the other hand, said that he and Michael Jackson were a wonderful match.
According to ESPN, Kerr noted on The Lowe Post podcast, “He was a fantastic compliment to Michael.” “Michael was the tough guy.” Every day, you had to be prepared for his critique. Scottie would wrap his arm over you and check on you. He has a good heart.”
Stacey King, who was a member of the Bulls’ first three championship teams, complimented Pippen as a teammate.
“I tell people all the time,” King told ESPN, “Scottie was the finest teammate I ever played with.” “When MJ was on you, Scottie would say, ‘Don’t worry.’ Don’t pay attention to him. ‘You’re going to be OK.’
Overall, Michael Jordan is known as the greatest player of all time, which made him a wonderful teammate on the court. However, it’s possible that Scottie Pippen was the best teammate ever.
