The armor industry is worth billions of dollars, and most of the profits come from the sale of dyed armor. So what does it take to dye armor? In this post, I will show you how to dye armor in Minecraft using just a few simple tools. The process is easy, and you can dye armor in all of the different colors you could possibly want.

Before you go running off to create a first-person shooter in Minecraft, you should know that there is absolutely no way to dye armor in the game. There is also no way to create an item in the game that is capable of altering your armor’s appearance in any way.

If you’ve played with Minecraft for a while, you may have noticed a few things that you can add to the game that are invisible to the naked eye. For example, what about a custom texture pack that makes the game look like you’re playing on a PS4 or Xbox One? Or maybe you want to see a certain color of armor in the game? With these ways to make Minecraft look like other games out there, it’s not surprising that people have discovered a way to make armor in the game appear to be dyed.

While leather armor isn’t the most durable in Minecraft, it is by far the most attractive, due to the option to dye it in a staggering 12.3 million distinct hues. You may make a whole set of matching armor, a mismatched rainbow costume, a gradient design, or whatever else you choose.

The techniques for dyeing your armor will differ depending on whether you’re playing on Java Edition or Bedrock Edition, but this tutorial will cover both.

In Minecraft: Java Edition, how to Dye Armor

In Java Edition, dying leather armor is extremely simple, since it is the same as dying any other dyable object, such as candles, beds, or glass.

Simply put the item of armor you want to dye in a crafting table with the dye of your choosing. To combine colors, you can add various dye colors to an armor piece, and the quantity you may add is unlimited. With the armor piece, you can fit up to eight dyes in the crafting table, but you may return the colored armor to the table and add more.

Add the dyes to the making table and look at the output slot for a preview of the armor if you want to play with with color combinations. If you don’t like how it appears, don’t click the output slot; instead, keep arranging your dyes until you find something you like.

You can un-dye your armor if you change your mind about the hue and want to try something different without having to make a new set or toss your old one away.

Place a cauldron on the ground and fill it with water by interacting with it while carrying a bucket of water. Interact with the cauldron while holding the armor you want to un-dye in your hand. This will remove all of the color, but you will not get your dyes back.

In Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, how to Dye Armor

Because you can’t just apply dyes to the armor in a crafting table as you can in Java, dying armor in Bedrock Edition is a little more complex.

Rather, you’ll need to dye water in a cauldron and then soak your armor in it. You’ll be able to color up to three armor pieces with a single dye item, which is more efficient. It’s also a little riskier, since unlike Java, you can’t “preview” the hue. You can’t take a dye out after it’s been added.

Place a cauldron on the ground and interact with it while carrying a water bucket. This will be enough to fill the cauldron. Hold a dye in your hand and use it to color the water in the cauldron. You may repeat this process to add additional colors to the mix. Hold the armor you want to dye in your hand and interact with the cauldron once more after you’ve found a color you like.

The armor will be dyed, and the water level in the cauldron will be reduced by a third. You’ll need to add fresh water and dye it again after dyeing two more armor pieces, but this still saves you a lot of dye compared to the Java version. However, in this form, un-dying is the same. While wearing your colored armor, interact with un-dyed cauldron water. The color will be washed away as a result of this.

While leather armor is the weakest choice in Minecraft, the ability to color and customize it makes it a fantastic, low-cost alternative when you’re not battling a monster or going on hazardous underground excursions.
