The order of the day has been shaken up with a new coaching hire by Rick Pitino

The “best coach of all time” is a phrase that has been used in sports for decades. But who is the best coach ever? Sports fans will have to decide for themselves.

'He's the Best Coach Ever'

The New England Patriots, led by Bill Belichick, will go to any length to win. That isn’t shocking information. That idea is backed up by Belichick’s six Super Bowl victories with the Patriots.

It was maybe never more clear than on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills on a windy, chilly night.

Whatever the situation, Belichick will put his team in the best possible position to win.

Against the Buffalo Bills, the New England Patriots played a flawless game.

In a 14-10 victory against Buffalo on the road, Belichick made it plain to offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels that the team should run the ball and only throw on rare (and I mean rare) situations. When you think about it, it makes logic. The wind was howling at 40 mph, and rookie quarterback Mac Jones wasn’t renowned for his arm power to begin with. Belichick determined that the best approach for the Patriots to win the football game was to take advantage of the weather and grind and pound the Bills into submission.

Who are you going to dispute with?

When it’s freezing outside, no one wants to confront. In many circumstances, the tackler suffers more than the ball carrier. The Patriots took this to heart, running 46 times for 222 yards as a team. Jones only threw the ball three times throughout the game. New England overpowered Buffalo and snatched the Bills’ desire to play.

Buffalo had anticipated the run and had even stacked the box, but they were unable to match New England’s zeal. The Patriots have a strategy in place. They understood exactly what they intended to accomplish going into the game and stuck to it.

Once again, Belichick’s squad executed his strategy flawlessly.

Former NFL scout John Middlekauff appreciates Bill Belichick’s game planning for its lack of ego.

In 2021, the NFL will be brimming with “hot shot” coaches. On the offensive side of the ball, we’ve seen an influx of young head coaches who are, simply, outstanding at one thing or another. Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan, and Matt LaFleur have all built reputations for themselves in the league thanks to their complex offenses, play designs, and in-game tweaks. That’s great, but Belichick demonstrated on Monday night that sometimes keeping things simple is the best way to win a game.

On his 3 And Out podcast, veteran NFL scout John Middlekauff claims that Belichick is who he is because he removes any ego from his game plan and just does what his team has to do to win week after week.

“The greatest characteristic of Bill Belichick, the best coach in the history of football, and I believe you might say in the history of all sports, is that he has no strategy.” He is sincerely unconcerned. When it comes to his game strategy, he has no ego,” Middlekauff remarked. “All he cares about is having more points at the end of 60 minutes.”

Middlekauff, a former Philadelphia Eagles scout, admits that it sounded elementary and perhaps too easy for the NFL. What Belichick does, on the other hand, is absolutely special. Rather of sticking to the same system week after week, as most coaches do, he puts his ego aside and customizes the philosophy his squad employs on a weekly basis. That isn’t to imply that other coaches don’t prepare for their particular weekly opponents; they almost certainly do. It’s simply that Belichick is ready to invest and stick to his guns. Perhaps most amazing is his ability to persuade his coaching staff and players to support him.

“Bill has no plan.” They don’t have any inclinations. “They’ll go to any length,” Middlekauff said of the Patriots.

The Patriots are looking like a Super Bowl contender under Belichick’s leadership.

Is there any question that the Patriots are the hottest club in the NFL right now, in terms of buy-in? The offense is running smoothly under Belichick and McDaniels, and the Patriots’ defense is once again a force to be reckoned with. The Patriots currently have the best defense in the NFL, allowing just 15.4 points per game after Monday night’s victory.

The Patriots have now won seven straight games, and they are not just the best team in the AFC East, but also the best club in the whole league. The Patriots’ victory against the Bills demonstrated that they are now the best team in the AFC, and that Belichick will find a way to win no matter who they face or what they face.

Teams like the Titans, Ravens, Chiefs, Chargers, and, yes, the Bills, must be terrified.

“Bill and Josh put on a coaching clinic on simply being basic,” Middlekauff enthused, referring to the Patriots’ laser-like concentration versus Buffalo. “I believe we give coaches a lot of credit for being geniuses and coming up with crazy plays and doing stuff we’ve never seen before, but the game looked like something out of a high school football game in 1992.” In 1876, it looked like NFL football, and he doesn’t seem to mind. He will go to any length to win.”

Middlekauff went on to declare that the win against Buffalo was Belichick’s most spectacular victory in the post-Tom Brady era, and it’s hard to disagree.

It wasn’t showy, but it was essential, sound, and effective. It’s remarkable when the other team knows exactly what you’re going to do and yet can’t stop you. In high school or college football, that’s a major thing.

In the National Football League?

It’s fantastic.

At this point, how can you bet against the Patriots? They seem to be the favourites to win the AFC despite having a rookie QB. A better question is: how can you bet against Bill Belichick?

“He’s the finest coach ever,” Middlekauff added, “and he runs the best organization we’ve ever seen.”

ESPN and Pro Football Reference provided the statistics.
