Guilty Gear Strive is a new game announced by Arc System Works , the same people who brought you the Guilty Gear and Blazblue series. (The first Guilty Gear was released in 1999, the second in 2001.) The game is a new addition to Arc System Works’ “Guilty Gear” fighting series and is set in the Guilty Gear universe. It was released on November 30, 2016 in Japan for PS4 and PC, with a PlayStation 3 release scheduled for Q1 2017.

Guilty Gear Strive is a fighting game that was released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2014. The game itself is a pretty good fighting game, but it suffers from a myriad of problems that mar its gameplay. The most glaring of which is its disappointing lack of cross-platform play, making the game a bit of a waste of a purchase.

Last month, I wrote an article about Guilty Gear Strive, a mobile-exclusive fighting game that makes use of the PlayStation Vita’s front touch screen to input commands. First impressions were promising: the Vita version of the game is a ton of fun. The concept of fighting with the entire Vita on the front screen sounds great, and while it’s easy to get frustrated when you get hit in the face by a giant fist or get caught in a bunch of bad combos, it’s also incredibly satisfying to live out your fighting fantasies and mash on the face buttons.

Arc System Works introduced Guilty Gear to the world in 1998. For those of us who love the fighting game genre, but are tired of the endless Capcom and SNK clones and sequels, this game was magical. Over the years, the series never got the attention and love it deserved, but thankfully it continued to appear. The latest is Guilty Gear Strive, which is coming exclusively to PS4 and PS5. Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator (and the updated version REV 2) stood out not only for its action, but also for its truly impressive 3D cinematic graphics. TheREV2 was great, but the Strive is almost stunning.

Guilty Gear Strive Review : Strive for happiness

. Guilty Gearworks so brilliantly as a whole, thanks in large part to its gorgeous, supernatural, and downright eccentric character designs. The game’s universe is rich and layered and packed with stories, and the cast is so special that no other fighter can compare to it. You could say Capcom’s Darkstalkers comes close in terms of character design, but unfortunately you don’t see that series much these days. A roster of 15 characters seems a bit small compared to the huge list of fighters in many other games, but most other fighting games only offer a few basic archetypes with different looks. Every character here is awesome and unique in their own way. A blind warrior fighting his shadow, a girl throwing sea creatures at you, an awesome rock’n’roll witch, a giant machine gun, a thug, a samurai vampire, a deranged doctor literally throwing random objects at you….. The Guilty Gear series remains one of the most incredibly creative and well designed in all of video games. The series has traditionally been known for its complex combat mechanics, with insane amounts of special systems requiring extensive tutorials. Strive has streamlined much of this to some extent. The game has become more accessible, so you can z. B. can do more damage with small combos. There are still detailed guides (with mini-missions to explore even more specific game mechanics), but Strive is a bit easier for any user. This does not mean that these alien systems and subsystems have disappeared. There are also strange techniques and mechanics like dust, slash, novel cancels, burst, voltage display, different types of blocks…. the list goes on and on. But the emphasis is on fast, powerful battles that are always satisfying. word-image-6407 Conclusion: The more you play, the deeper the gameplay becomes. The presentation fits well with the mechanism. Each staircase has a visual and acoustic effect, each staircase is accompanied by a brass band. It’s no exaggeration to say that Guilty Gear Strive is simply the best anime-style fighting game ever made. Over the years, many games have matched their animated counterparts, but Strive feels like an animated movie. The clever use of camera angles, incredible animation, characters and incredibly detailed backgrounds are impeccable. While Strive is technically both a new game and a last-gen game, it impresses in a way that no next-gen exclusive has ever done before. However, there are some drawbacks. In the last few games, Guilty Gear has relied on the non-interactive story mode as a sort of fallback for single-player content. While it used to be a visual novel, in Strive,is more like a multi-hour anime. Honestly, the plot of this series has always been so complicated and overwhelming that it’s almost impossible to understand. The story is largely irrelevant to the rest of the game, and the story mode doesn’t help matters. word-image-6408 There’s also a basic arcade mode where you choose a fighter and fight other fighters controlled by artificial intelligence, as well as numerous training opportunities in the Dojo. If Guilty Gear really wants to upgrade the single player mode, it needs to learn how to turn the story mode into something truly meaningful and interactive (like Mortal Kombat did). The arcade mode is still great, but this modern action game needs a little more for solo players. The multiplayer itself is very robust. Online matches are fast, smooth and responsive, with no lag at all during our tests. Unfortunately, the online gameplay is drowned out by this charming but completely useless 8-bit side-scrolling lobby. Before you begin the game, you create a character, play a test game to determine your starting level, and then wander through the multi-level pixel world looking for other players willing to fight. The coins you earn can be spent on fish, which gives you new customizable items for your outfit and other items. There is a movie mode that allows you to view recorded battles, as well as other features. However, all this gets in the way of a quick start to the game.

Guilty Gear Strive test – TheConclusion

Professional

  • The stunning presentation makes this one of the greatest games of all time.
  • An incredibly deep and exciting battle story
  • Reliable online multiplayer
  • The awesome character design makes each fighter seem unique and special.

Cons

  • The online lobby is nice, but it makes it harder and slower to join a multiplayer match.
  • Single-player modes are incredibly simple
  • The story mode is not interactive and rather useless.

Guilty Gear Strive is the perfect time to get into this great series. It’s more accessible than ever and absolutely stunning to watch. There’s still plenty to do in the single player, and the retro network match system, while odd, only adds unnecessary complexity to the multiplayer mode. Other than that, it’s a solid fighting game worth playing.
