The NFL draft is a week away, meaning you can expect to hear a lot of quotes like this: “The Browns are going to draft RG3.”
Every year, the NFL draft has a new story to tell. It’s a story that always begins with the selection of a top quarterback prospect to be the next franchise quarterback. In 2014, it was the Washington Redskins that selected Robert Griffin III.When his days as a professional football player are officially behind him, Robert Griffin III might be coming to a television screen near you. Due to multiple injuries, Griffin, winner of the Heisman Trophy in 2011, has spent most of his NFL career as a backup quarterback. Instead of returning to the NFL for the 2021 season, the 31-year-old could opt for a different athletic path.

Current players, former coaches and everyone else meet with the networks and audition to be added to their teams. Robert Griffin III could be the next to trade in his boots for a microphone. The New York Post reports that the former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year has auditioned with ESPN and Fox Sports for a hybrid role in which he will host games and appear on studio shows. Griffin reportedly left broadcasters baffled after the hearing. At the time of publication, he had not yet accepted an offer from either broadcaster. If ESPN hires Griffin, he will cover college football games, work in the studio and be featured on weekday programs likeGet Up! . Fox will do something similar, but maybe let Griffin work a few NFL games as an analyst.
Griffin showed his talents in the 2021 NFL Draft
If Griffin were to do an analysis of the NFL or college football, it wouldn’t be the first time he’s done it for a major publication. After free agency passed without his signature, Griffin participated in Bleacher Report’s coverage of the 2021 NFL Draft. The former second choice did well and gave a good look at some selections. Griffin also showed his willingness to address sensitive topics regarding current NFL players. His former teammate, Kirk Cousins, is the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. When the Vikings used a second-round pick on Kellen Monde, Griffin immediately said Cousins would not be happy with the pick. Because Kellen Monde represents exactly what [Cousins] does not. Kellen Mond is a big, physical quarterback. He can run and throw all over the field, and I don’t think #8 Cousins is capable of doing that in Minnesota. But I think the coaching staff and administration need that. Robert Griffin III According to USA Today, Griffin also accused Cousins of cashing checks and leading the Vikings to mediocre seasons. Cousins earned more than $94 million in his first three seasons with the Vikings.
Griffin could be on the new Fox Sportsteam alongside Mark Sanchez.

The New York Post reports that Fox has offered Mark Sanchez, who currently works for ESPN, the role of game analyst. The Jets’ former starting quarterback will take the place of Chris Spielman, who was traded to the Detroit Lions earlier this season. Spielman worked with Kevin Krugler and Laura Ockmin on the broadcast team for Issue 5 in 2020. It is not yet known who Griffin will play with when he moves to Fox.
