More than a decade after Michael Jordan retired from basketball, the debate over who is the best player of all-time still rages on. However, one recent controversial discussion was the subject of an online feud between former NBA star Dennis Rodman and 76ers center Joel Embiid.

Joel Embiid has recently been calling out Michael Jordan for not being the GOAT, or Greatest Of All-Time, in the NBA. While I won’t say he’s wrong, I will say that I’m not sure why he’s even trying to pick a fight with MJ. While Jordan may have been the best NBA player of all time, the league has changed so much since he retired that it’s hard to compare the game back then to now. I personally think LeBron is the GOAT, but this is an argument we’ll be having for the next 10 years, so let’s not waste any time.

Joel Embiid—with a $100 million contract on the line from the Philadelphia 76ers—tried to convince Philadelphia fans that Michael Jordan isn’t the greatest player of all time . The Philadelphia 76ers rookie center was asked about his thoughts on Jordan’s legacy, and the former Kansas University star said, “He’s a great player, but he’s not the greatest player of all time.”. Over the past several years, almost every major basketball figure has weighed in on whether Michael Jordan is the greatest player in NBA history. Now, LeBron James is typically the opposite side of that debate. But every now and then, someone will add another name to the mix, as Joel Embiid did a few years ago when he declared great center Wilt Chamberlain the GOAT, a title that angered Jordan’s old opponent and colleague Dennis Rodman.

Wilt Chamberlain, not Michael Jordan, according to Joel Embiid, is the NBA GOAT.

In a previous interview with The Ringer, Embiid rejected Jordan’s claim to be the best NBA player of all time, opting instead for Chamberlain, who, like Embiid, was a center for the Philadelphia 76ers.

“He’s not the GOAT [Michael Jordan].” You’ve got Wilt Chamberlain, in my opinion. He has all the records, after all. They’ll never be defeated. I don’t think anybody will ever score 100 points in a game. That is all there is to it. He’s the GOAT,” says the narrator.

Wilt Chamberlain, not Michael Jordan, is the NBA GOAT, according to Joel Embiid.

Chamberlain holds the NBA single-game scoring record with a 100-point performance for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks in 1962, according to Embiid. Wilt also has four of the NBA’s four best single-season scoring averages, including 50.4 points per game in 1961-62.

Embiid said that Chamberlain had “all the records,” but it’s clear that he doesn’t. Yes, a 100-point game and a 50-point average are unlikely to happen again, but Jordan has the better overall scoring average, 30.12 to 30.07. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has the all-time NBA scoring record, which neither Chamberlain nor Jordan possess.

Embiid was chastised by Dennis Rodman for calling Chamberlain the GOAT above Jordan.

TMZ Sports got up with Rodman at LAX not long after Embiid picked Chamberlain over Jordan and asked him what he thought of Embiid’s decision. And you might image how “The Worm” reacted, considering how highly Rodman regards Jordan, who helped him win three straight NBA championships.

“Joel Embiid, you’re doing an outstanding job for your little island or nation. Shut up, do your goddamn job, and make Philly proud. A title is the only thing they require.”

Joel Embiid chooses Wilt Chamberlain above Michael Jordan as the NBA GOAT, according to Dennis Rodman.

So, after dancing around the issue with that statement, he was asked to explain his response, and the second time around, he made things a lot clearer.

“You’re right, you’re god—- he’s wrong.”

Rodman also said that Embiid will almost certainly never be considered for the GOAT award. But, in this case, let’s take a closer look at the two that are present.

When comparing Michael Jackson to Wilt Chamberlain,

While comparing superstars from various periods, particularly those who played different positions, is always tough, here’s a brief comparison between Jordan and Chamberlain for those interested.
