Dead Space is one of those series that seemed like it would never see a sequel. But a few years later, it still doesn’t seem likely that we’ll ever get a Dead Space 3. At least, not without trying. Now, the new game will be developed by Motive Studios, the studio behind the Need for Speed reboot. The game is being described as a “spiritual sequel” to the Dead Space games, and it will tell the story of John Carver, an engineer who finds himself in orbit of a planet at the edge of the solar system. But this is no normal mission. The planet’s atmosphere is contaminated with a volatile gas, and the miners who live on it are being forced to live in a “spac
After its successful and widely-praised entry in first-person shooter (FPS) franchise Dead Space, game developer/publisher Electronic Arts (EA) has announced plans to develop a new installment in the franchise. This time, the game is called Dead Space: Downfall and it will be based on the fourth and final chapter in the Dead Space series, Dead Space 4.
There’s something about a Friday afternoon that always makes me think of Dead Space. I mean, what’s not to love about an entire game taking place and being developed around a single spaceship? But, what would that be like to play? Well, today we got a nice little teaser trailer for Dead Space: Remake, and it looks very cool.
The speculations of a Dead Space remake were confirmed. During the most recent EA Play 2021 event, Electronic Arts revealed the Dead Space remake. Motive Studios, which most recently released Star Was: Squadrons and previously worked on Star Wars Battlefront 2, is developing the game.
It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It will not be available on last-generation consoles such as the PS4 or Xbox One.
There’s not much to go on outside of the game’s scary (though brief) teaser video and stated platforms. During EA Play, EA didn’t provide much specifics on the Dead Space remake, but they did talk with IGN in more depth.
“Dead Space will be rebuilt from the ground up on the Frostbite engine, with the creators aiming to take use of the improved SSDs, 3D audio, and other new hardware of the current console generation,” according to Jonathon Dornbush of IGN.
Dornbush also talked with Philippe Ducharme, the game’s senior producer, on a variety of subjects, including the absence of load screens and staying true to the original’s visual style.
Dead Space remake rumors have been circulating for a few weeks, but fans have been clamoring for a return for much longer.
Dead Space was released on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in 2008. Dead Space 2 was released in 2011 and Dead Space 3 was released in 2013 on the same platforms. To far, there have been three spinoffs.
