What are the implications of NBA player salaries? The answer is huge. In 2016, LeBron James made $33 million in salary alone, while Dirk Nowitzki was paid just over a quarter that amount.

The “highest-paid young nba players” is a list of the top 100 highest-paid players in the NBA. Dallas Mavericks Star, Luka Doncic, is only the 104th player on the list.

Luka Doncic, who is just 23 years old, is already one of the NBA’s brightest players. The point guard earned a Rookie of the Year award, three All-Star appearances, and two All-NBA First Team votes in four years with the Dallas Mavericks.

Doncic’s contribution to the Mavericks is practically unquantifiable, but he has yet to cash in on his compensation. Doncic was paid little over $10 million this season, making him the 104th highest-paid player in the NBA.

Luka Doncic’s salary this season was barely $10 million.

NBA players are often compensated fairly depending on their accomplishments in the league or their potential future earnings. Young athletes, on the other hand, sometimes break out sooner than projected and outperform their rookie contracts. As the No. 3 overall choice in the 2018 NBA Draft, Doncic had high expectations going into the league, but he’s far exceeded them.

Doncic has averaged 26.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game in four seasons with the Mavericks. Only seven players in NBA history have a better lifetime scoring average: Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Jerry West, and Allen Iverson.

That is, indeed, excellent company.

Throughout his brief career, Doncic has been even better in the playoffs. The point guard has averaged 32.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 8.5 assists in 22 playoff starts. In each of his three postseason appearances with Dallas, he has averaged at least 31 points per game. That’s something you don’t see very frequently.

Despite his outstanding start to his career, Doncic gets paid a pittance in comparison to his talent. Doncic’s salary in 2021-22 was just $10.2 million. This is the last year of his four-year, $32.5 million rookie deal, so anticipate his salary to start with a one for the last time.

In 2021-22, 102 NBA players made more money than Doncic.

Doncic is virtually certain to be named to his third straight All-NBA First Team, indicating that he is currently a top-five player in the league. But he isn’t being compensated accordingly just yet. Doncic’s salary in 2021-22 is $10.2 million, which places him 104th in the league. Here’s a list of players that made the most money this season:

$10.4 million for Richaun Holmes $11.1 million for Dwight Powell $12.2 million for Kelly Olynyk Warren, T.J.: $12.7 million $15.6 million for Marcus Morris $16.5 million for Markelle Fultz $17.4 million for Jonathan Isaac $20.5 million for Gary Harris $35.9 million for Tobias Harris $44.3 million for John Wall (who didn’t play a single game).

Doncic will be ecstatic to move on from his rookie deal, since his five-year, $207 million rookie supermax agreement will begin in the 2022-23 season. Doncic will be towards the top of the wage list in just a few months, where he belongs.
