Boston Celtics Get Some Good News After Robert Williams Surgery

The Boston Celtics are looking to rebound after losing in overtime to the Toronto Raptors on Monday, their first setback in two weeks. The Celtics kept playing well, but they were without four players in that game, and their six-game winning run came to an end.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were not in the lineup. Al Horford and Robert Williams, two of Boston’s big guys, were also benched. Williams hurt his knee in a victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves the night before.

Williams underwent surgery on his torn meniscus on Tuesday. For the Celtics, the news on Williams’ return was about as good as it could get.

Without Robert Williams, the Boston Celtics must fight for a postseason berth.

For the Celtics, Williams has blossomed this season. He plays considerably larger than his 6-foot-8 stature as an athletically skilled center. He’s averaging a near double-double with 10.0 points and 9.6 rebounds in 61 games.

Williams’ shot-blocking and rebounding abilities make him a game-changer on defense. The Celtics must now adapt their game for the remainder of the regular season, since he will be out for the last six games.

He was hurt versus Minnesota, but he didn’t know how or when it occurred.

“He stated there wasn’t even a particular play that he recalls,” Celtics first-year coach Ime Udoka said after the victory, according to Yahoo Sports. I went back to be checked out since I was in a lot of discomfort.”

Williams’ presence in the middle adds a dimension to the Celtics that they haven’t had in a long time. He’s a feared shot-blocker who’s now in the running for Defensive Player of the Year.

The Celtics are in third place in the Eastern Conference with six games left, one game behind first place.

Following Robert Williams’ surgery, the Boston Celtics received some excellent news.

Williams’ departure for the rest of the regular season is a setback, but if the Celtics win a round in the playoffs, there’s a high possibility he’ll be back in Round 2.

Williams had successful surgery, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, and may be back in the Boston lineup in four to six weeks. For the Celtics, that’s about as good as it gets.

If the Celtics progress to the second round of the playoffs, he should be back in time. The second round is scheduled to start around May 1st.

According to Udoka, depending on the degree of the rip and the sort of surgery necessary to repair it, numerous scenarios might play out. The best case scenario for Boston is four to six weeks.

Daniel Theis will be called upon to fill the void left by Williams’ absence.

It will be difficult to replace Williams for the next month or two, but Brad Stevens made a great move at the trade deadline that should help soothe the pain. In a trade with the Houston Rockets, the Celtics re-acquired center Daniel Theis. Theis was overjoyed to be returning to Boston.

According to Mass Live, Theis remarked after the agreement, “I wouldn’t say astonished – sort of relieved and thrilled.” “I suppose Houston simply didn’t turn out the way I had hoped. If I was going to be traded, I wanted to come back here, in my mind. I’m simply relieved to be back and out of Houston. “All I can say is that I’m looking forward to the remainder of the season.”

While Theis isn’t as good as Williams at defending the rim, he is a high-energy player. He’s a solid scorer and rebounder. Theis scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Raptors’ OT defeat. With 41 minutes played, he was the team’s leading player.

During his initial stay with the Celtics, Theis was a fan favorite in Boston. Last season, he was sent to the Chicago Bulls by Boston. The Bulls traded Theis to the Rockets in August, but he spent much of the season on the bench as the Rockets concentrated on developing their younger players.

He’s glad to be back in Boston, and he’ll be a key part of the Celtics’ plans for the next four to six weeks.
