The NBA recently had to deal with a new virus outbreak as the season began. Teams were scrambling, trying to find players and make sure everyone stayed healthy for the season ahead. As these issues mounted, one big question echoed around the league: Who are these guys?
The “list of unvaccinated nba players” is a list of NBA players that have not been vaccinated for the flu. This has caused many teams to make changes to their rosters, as they are trying to avoid the spread of viruses.
As the omicron version of the coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads over the continent, more than 100 NBA players joined the health and safety measures in December. And they aren’t simply supporting characters. Kevin Durant, Luka Doni, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Trae Young, and, most recently, Bradley Beal are among the NBA’s biggest stars who have been ruled out.
NBA clubs have turned to the G League for backup players as a result of these absences. Since the Denver Nuggets signed Javon Reed on Dec. 4, over 50 players have signed 10-day contracts. It leads to the same inquiry from fans: “Who are these guys?” The fact is that they’re a strange combination of veterans who were assumed to be done in the NBA, younger NBA vets who were given an unexpected shot, and guys who were given their first chance to shine under the biggest lights.
Who are these individuals? Some well-known faces are receiving a second shot.

The majority of players signing hardship 10-day contracts are newcomers to the NBA, either draft selections who didn’t pan out or undrafted free agents who weren’t part of their original team’s long-term plans. They’re getting a second opportunity thanks to the health and safety measures.
One of such players is Reed. Reed was drafted in the second round by the Phoenix Suns in 2017, and he appeared in 21 games for them as a rookie before being dismissed late in the preseason in 2018. Reed failed to make the Miami Heat’s roster in October 2019 after signing a two-way deal with the Indiana Pacers. Since then, he’s been out of the league.
Justin Robinson, who was just released by the Milwaukee Bucks, and Admiral Schofield are two more young players who are returning to the NBA. Last season, he was a two-way player for the Orlando Magic, and he returned to the club on Dec. 17.
Theo Pinson, Marquese Chriss, George King, and Charlie Brown (Dallas Mavericks); Jemerrio Jones (Los Angeles Lakers); Wenyen Gabriel (Brooklyn Nets); Chris Silva and Rayjon Tucker (Minnesota Timberwolves); Matt Mooney (New York Knicks); Luke Kornet (Cleveland Cavaliers); Freddie Gillespie (Magic); Zylan Cheatham (Heat); Emmanuel Mudia (Detroit Pistons).
After losing a large portion of their squad to the procedures, the Toronto Raptors signed three players in this category, signing Juwan Morgan, D.J. Wilson, and Tremont Waters.
Former NBA players get a second opportunity at greatness, albeit for a limited time.

In recent days, numerous veterans have been added to NBA teams. Lance Stephenson’s last appearance in the league was in the year 2019. On Dec. 22, hours after signing a 10-day hardship contract, he played 23 minutes for the Atlanta Hawks.
Alfonzo McKinnie, Langston Galloway, Ersan Ilyasova, James Ennis, Shaquille Harrison, C.J. Miles, Damyean Dotson, Justin Anderson, Tyler Johnson, Danuel House, and Wesley Iwundu are among the other well-known role players returning to the NBA.
Isaiah Thomas’ return to the NBA caused a commotion when he joined the Lakers, who were short-handed.
But no signing generated as much interest as the Boston Celtics’ decision to bring back Joe Johnson, who was 40 at the time, after five players had entered the procedures.
When Johnson returned to the floor on Dec. 22, almost 20 years after his last appearance in a Celtics jersey, he established an NBA record. That eclipsed James Edwards’ record of more than 14 years, which he achieved with the Lakers in 1993.
Johnson scored his first NBA point since Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals in 2018. Since his free agency in July 2018, he’s been a member of the Big Three. Johnson was still absorbing the incident, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps:
“It’s incredible to be back here after 20 years.” To me, it’s still unreal.”

But, if it was odd for a guy who had played in 1,276 NBA games before his comeback, the third set of hardship players is at a place they never imagined they’d be.

After his final year at South Carolina, Hassani Gravett went undrafted. The 25-year-old combo guard spent the 2019–20 season in the G-League with the Lakeland Magic. Gravett returned to Lakeland this season after spending previous season in Macedonia. The Georgia native shared his sentiments after making his first NBA start on Dec. 22 in a victory against Atlanta.
Because of the overwhelming migration to the protocols, he’s not the only hardship signee receiving his first taste of NBA life. Gravett brought forward Aleem Ford from Lakeland. Tyler Hall, a guard who has been with the Knicks’ G-League club in Westchester since 2019, was signed by the team. Moses Wright, an undrafted rookie, is currently a Clipper. Mac McClung, a former Georgetown guard, is now based in Chicago.
Ade Murkey, a former University of Denver star, has joined the Kings. He’s the first player since former ABA star Byron Beck to go straight from Denver to the pros. Royce O’Neal spent two seasons with the Pioneers before moving to Baylor. He presently plays for the Utah Jazz as a starter.
Jordan Schakel of the Washington Wizards, Tre Scott of the Cavaliers, Malcolm Hill of the Atlanta Hawks, and Javin DeLaurier of the Milwaukee Bucks are all rookies in the NBA.
Once the epidemic is gone and things return to a semblance of routine, it’s conceivable, perhaps probable, that these guys will slip back to the bottom rungs of professional basketball. However, they are now getting an opportunity in the NBA. That’s a lot more than many ambitious ballers ever acquire.
