The Jaguars’ decision to allocate a combined $22.2 million a year to eight players on the offense is a grossly unfair way to calculate the team’s cap. If they were to allocate $22.2 million of their cap to eight players, that would be $18.2 million for wide receiver Allen Hurns and $2.2 million for running back Chris Ivory. That would leave $22.2 million for the remaining six skill position players, and there’s very little chance that the Jaguars would pick up that much money for their players.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are having a rough season, with a 0-8 record, having lost to the lowly AFC South rival Houston Texans twice. The Jags’ passing game was awful to begin with, but the team’s problems are even worse this season. The Jags have only been able to score once in the first quarter this season, while the team’s defense has been a mess, giving up 37 points per game and ranking 31st in the NFL against the run.
How about this for a fantasy stat for the NFL offseason? The Jaguars have eight starters who make less than $9.5 million on their 2016 salary cap. The Jaguars’ highest-paid player is left tackle Kelvin Beachum, who earned $6.25 million last season. Beachum was selected in the second round of the 2013 draft and has started all 100 games in which he has played.. Read more about jacksonville jaguars cap space 2021 and let us know what you think.
To say that the Jacksonville Jaguars’ offense will be young and inexperienced is an understatement. The good news for the organization is that this group won’t cost a lot in the 2021 NFL season. The team’s core group of eight skill position players (QB1, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, WR3, TE1, & TE2) will only make a combined $22.2 Million.
When you consider the premiums clubs pay for those positions and the fact that there are ten NFL players with a greater cap cost, that figure is extremely low. This lack of experience may make for a long season in Duval, but it could also indicate that the Jags are on the verge of something great.
In 2021, the Jacksonville Jaguars will boast a youthful, low-cost offense.
The #Jaguars are now poised to start an offense that contains a QB1, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, WR3, TE1, & TE2 at a combined $22.2M of 2021 cap.
There are ten players in the NFL that will have a greater single cap hit.

Trevor Lawrence, the No. 1 selection in the 2021 NFL draft, will be the focal point of the Jaguars’ offense in 2021. Even as the first overall selection, he’ll have a cap charge of $6.6 million in 2021. Travis Etienne, a fellow first-round selection and former Clemson Tiger, or free agency signing Carlos Hyde will be behind him. The rookie running back will earn slightly more over $2 million, while Hyde will earn somewhat less.
The Jaguars will start free agent Marvin Jones ($4.7 million) and a pair of former second-round picks, DJ Chark ($2.5 million) and Laviska Shenault ($1.7 million) as pass catchers. Jacksonville will go with former Panther Chris Manhertz ($2.6 million) and James O’Shaughnessy ($1.5 million) at tight end.
If second-year players like WR Collin Johnson and RB James Robinson can get into the starting lineup during training camp, that number may fall even lower. The cap hits for these two are $76,778 and $1,666, respectively.
Quarterback-turned-tight-end As a starter, Tim Tebow would bring that number down. His 2021 cap figure is just $920,000.
The Jaguars offense has a higher cap hit than ten other NFL players.

It’s amazing to imagine that a few of NFL players will use more of their team’s cap space in 2021 than all of the Jaguars’ skill position players combined. Who are these well-heeled celebrities?
The bulk of the names on this list are quarterbacks, which should come as no surprise. In reality, the top six are all well-paid signal-callers. However, it isn’t always a who’s who of the league’s finest passers.
Aaron Rodgers ($37.5 million), Russell Wilson ($32 million), Kirk Cousins ($31 million), Matt Ryan ($26.9 million), Jimmy Garoppolo ($26.3 million), and Ben Roethlisberger ($25.9) are the players with the highest cap numbers in 2021.
Defensive linemen or pass-rushing linebackers make up the last four players on the list. Frank Clark ($25.8 million), DeMarcus Lawrence ($25 million), Fletcher Cox ($23.8 million), and Von Miller ($22.2 million) are the players.
Dak Prescott’s contract cost is likewise $22.2 million, although it’s a few thousand dollars less than the Jaguars’ starters. Ryan was ranked first on the list going into 2021 until his contract was restructured. Ryan Tannehill followed suit, falling from No. 5 to No. 88.

While paying your whole offensive skill group $22 million may seem risky, it may be beneficial to the Jaguars and their new head coach, Urban Meyer.
Teams with great quarterbacks on rookie contracts have an advantage over the competition. The Jags may be set up for Super Bowl runs in the next few years if Lawrence can grow into a starter like many other projects.
You may look to the 2021 AFC Playoffs to see how much giving a rookie quarterback a fair wage helps develop a club. Four of the seven clubs featured rookie quarterbacks. The Kansas City Chiefs (Patrick Mahomes), Buffalo Bills (Josh Allen), Baltimore Ravens (Lamar Jackson), and Cleveland Browns were the clubs in question (Baker Mayfield).
Also, although Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and both Manning brothers have recently won Super Bowls, so have a slew of rookie quarterbacks. In their first five years, Mahomes, Wilson, Roethlisberger, and Joe Flacco all won the Super Bowl. Because of Carson Wentz’s rookie contract, the Eagles were able to afford Nick Foles as a high-quality backup quarterback.
Even with its meager 2021 salary, the Jacksonville Jaguars may be a power in the AFC for years to come if Lawrence can live up to the expectations and the club can develop around him in the following four to five years.

The Jaguars have the most expensive set of skill position starters in the NFL. Behind the team’s $36.2 million cap charge are five players: WRs Marqise Lee ($9.6 million, 2017) and Allen Robinson ($7.9 million, 2017) and RBs T.J. Yeldon ($4.8 million, 2017), Chris Ivory ($3.1 million, 2017) and Forts, whose 2017 cap hit of $7.4 million is the fourth highest among all running backs..
